Second-itis

Quick post - firstly thanks for all the comments over the last couple of days (mostly about SLH) and I'll respond as soon as I can.

Been a decent few days - mainly thanks to Systematic Betting - but a poor day overall today - amazingly 8 tips from Systematic - no winners but 5 seconds and 1 other place - the fine line between an awesome day and a stinker!! Couple of other 2nds / places from others as well which is highly frustrated but c'est la vie!

Equine and SLH certainly having a very poor month.

According to Steve there is the strong possibility of some account business on the flat tomorrow: uh-oh, that doesn't sound good. More money down the drain?

I see SLH has updated his website and removed the misleading information about profits this summer. It may be a good idea to not bother following his flat racing advice and wait for the new jumps season to start instead.

Do you know if Steve Lewis Hamilton or his brother reads your blog? Hopefully they read it as well as the comments provided. It will make them wake up and get their act together.

Tomorrow will be make-or-break for the Steve Lewis Hamilton Private Service. A shocking last eight weeks has blown my bank and damaged my health. If tomorrow goes to hell then that's it. Forever.

Steve Lewis Hamilton needs to take better care of his clients. I am going to cancel my subscription to the Private Service, Exchange Service and All Weather Service. I have lost over £5,000 since 1st July and am not prepared to throw any more money away.going to cancel my subscription to the Private Service, Exchange Service and All Weather Service. Hi All - thanks for all your comments.

Jimmy the Saint - hopefully not!! Could do with a winner to balance the books for August.

Tony - interesting - I never look at the website to be honest - the results do their own talking and this year have been good (apart from Jan / Aug of course!) Agree SLH strength is definitely NH racing.

Graham - I don't know to be honest. Maybe based on Tony's comment about the website being updated.

Anon (1) - definitely disappointing - i'm quite surprised in the surge of flat tips - new but unsatisfactory.

Anon (2) - not a member of All Weather / Exchange - have results been poor?

This is a great blog and I read your posts and the various comments on a daily basis. I have two quick questions for you: how much profit (after expenses) have you made since beginning your quest to make a profit from betting? What is your policy when, for example, three of your tipsters advise different horses to win the same race?and the various comments on a daily basis. Fair play to SLH today, with a 3pt win @ 2/1 although it was close! I must admit, I thought the the extra furlong & the soft going would be against the selection. By the way, you asked about the AW service I believe. I took it as an add on to the private service at the start of the year. I was -£3523 down to a £100 win or £50 E/W stake before I stopped ringing the line on 20th July. At the same date (20th July), I was +£4874 with the SLH private service (to a £100 per point stake). After today's win, I am +£4535 on the private service, so after deducting the loss on the AW service, the cost of subscription & telephone call costs the whole thing is only just breaking even. I seem to recall on JPs old blog that the SLH AW service never really came up with the goods.

Nathaniel - thanks for your post.

Good question - first one in terms of profit is a difficult one to answer as my records have been poor up to recently - this partly caused by my bumper year in 2009 where I probably made about £5-6k after expenses - mainly thanks to Steve Lewis Hamilton. 2010 was not particularly successful as tipsters performed relatively poorly and I constantly tweaked staking and services. I suspect I made a healthy loss last year (iro of about £2-3k).

2011 is going well-ish but I need to bottom out subs costs and work out profitability of the whole thing.

Regarding tipsters who all tip the same horses - I simply following tipsters recommended bet - good example today being The Bell o Peover - tipped by Equine / Systematic and Market Examiner. So for me thats £55 on the horse - and it lost. I don't subscribe to the view that multiple tipped horses perform better - it feels like they lose more!! But think the key is to stick to staking recommended.

Anon (1) - Yeah was a good winner - from my point of view I capped stake at 2 points as I always do so not so much profit for me but nice to get back to winning ways. Thanks for the info on the aw service. I do remember JP not doing to well on it. I asked for figures from Steve and they provided them and it didn't look like so wasn't worth the add on - and still seems the same!!

Bobby - who knows! There's a lot of SLH bashers out there but each to their own!

Anon (2) - yeah i've seen its been poor - wonder how it got into the SBC HoF - I don't keep that close to it to be honest but might have a look.

Anon (3) - . to you too!
