Stan James - A joke of a bookie

Well it's no real surprise to me after reading a lot of other peoples experience with Stan James that my account was seriously restricted today. The account was initially restricted after a couple of weeks which was unbelievable and then today a could only get £5.70 on a 7/2 shot.

After contacting the live chat function I was told that "traders have decided my account is unprofitable". This is from an account that has been only open for 10 weeks, where I have placed 129 bets, never bet more than £25 in a single bet and made a whopping.... £610.... in profit.

My goodness - I must've brought them to their knees.... £610...

From their website... StanJames.com has become one of the most acclaimed names within the betting industry.

Mmmm.... I don't think so.

Hopefully June review over the next couple of days.

Hi, s/j, i had 4 accounts with them and 3 with there sister company betpack all closed down within the year. what can you do? v/c seem to be a nightmare to as had 4 accounts with them and got 1 left. tryed most things, keeping stake's low, high and different amounts to, doesnt make any difference! end of day if your a winning punter they dont want to know.

Hi Anon - yes it seems you're right - even with low stakes they seem to not like winners!! Good you had 4 accounts though and hopefully you took money off them. Not worked out how to open more than one account without getting spotted yet - so any ideas would be good. I've been ok with V/c so far but again I never bet with them regularly or with big amounts.

Hi Elist - seems like we all have problems with S/J!! Interesting comment re SLH - not really sure what you mean though - are you saying that this guy "M Walton" and SLH are the same person? Slightly worrying if it is the case.

SLH served up two real donkeys today! I spent the day at the race course. Embarrassing performance by both donkeys. I could not understand Steve's logic in backing either. Couldn't jump, couldn't run, no turn of foot, no stamina - totally outpaced and beaten by a country mile.pent the day at the race course. Embarrassing performance by both donkeys. Yeah it was a disappointing double bet - but never going to win them all. Here's hoping there's a few decent bets coming our way.

All Stan James accounts are reviewed on a regular basis by our Trading team, and due to betting patterns on this account the decision has been made to close it.

I would make you aware that this decision has been made at the highest level and will not be reversed. Any open bets will be honoured, and any outstanding balance will be returned to you via your normal withdrawal method.

Kind regards

It is I receive from StJames today...closed account.

I am very disappointed. I joined SLH's Private Service on 1st July. I allocated a 20 point bank at £100 per point (£2,000) and have lost 3 points already this month. Current balance of my betting bank is £1,700. How many points is your betting bank for use with SLH?

Hi elist - seems your problem with stan James is the same as many people who bet with them. They shouldn't be able to trade under false pretences!

July is a notorious month. I had a shocker last July.

Are you a member of SBC? Will give you a good idea of long term trends of some of services you have.

Equine - you will probably have to wait until next season for membership and not sure about systematic.

Hi anon
I'm not an expert on betting banks but you defintely need to increase what you have for steve lewis hamilton. I reckon in the region of 50 - 100 points. I have 100 points. While he has been ticking over well this year and is up +40 points there can be periods of long drawdowns where there are a number of losers in a row which will quickly erode your bank. 3 losers in a row is not unusual.

Also worth noting it is predominantly a national hunt service so it can be slow going in the summer.

Consider playing to level stakes rather than to recommended points. I never bet more than 2 points on a bet - the last time I analysed there was no benefit to backing the 3 or 4 point bets with more cash.

if you are restricted to a 2k bank I would at the very minimum reduce your point bet to 50 quid - preferably 25 quid and then you have a decent bank to bet with. As profits hopefully come in you can revisit your staking each month.

Hope that helps.

How much of your monthly salary do you set aside for betting? Do you use a percentage or a flat fee?

This month I subscribe with Northern Monkey ,SLH and PJA Racing Flat.Good start with PJA-yesterday one winner with good odds, today two winners ,again odds was high.SLH bad start, but it is too early to make estimates.Аfter 2-3 months we can say.Selective Betting had a strong week with three worthy winners.Formbet had a very bad week, many tips, many lose...Мy favorite service in last months -Market Examiner-strong weekend with three good winners.

The SLH donkey in the 5.30pm race at Ayr was a disgrace, an absolute disgrace. The donkey finished last. Why does SLH bother with amateur riders' races? The jockey on board today's donkey is inexperienced and unsuccessful. I wish SLH would just go on holiday and come back in the autumn thus saving me money. Hi anon 1 - I don't set aside any of my monthly salary to cover bets - I've separate betting bank that I've built steadily over the last 3 years of doing this. Try to keep everything I do with betting completely separate from my main income. Slowly building my betting bank to increase staking over time.

Hi elist - agree with your analysis - market examiner certainly hitting a purple patch! Wouldn't worry too much about SLH - although he's not started July too well!!

Hi anon 2 - yes you're not wrong - not a great result today and not a good start to July - as you can see from my June update I made 20 points profit so hopefully things will turn around.
